Remembering Jerry Baker at Lk Sammamish GP

By | 2015, Cyclocross

We are shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden death of Jerry Baker on Thursday from Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. Jerry was the foundation of modern bike racing in Washington state starting in the 1970’s as he took numerous roles developing the sport including the road, track and cyclocross disciplines. For most folks currently involved in bicycle racing he is known for this selfless work with the Marymoor Velodrome and Seattle Cyclocross Series. Jerry is also well know for winning the first Seattle to Portland (the one time it was a race) and riding every edition there after. He is survived by his wife, Deborah “Spot” Stephenson, and son and daughter, Andy and Julia Baker.

We will ask everyone in attendance on Sunday at Lake Sammamish GP to gather with us at the Finish Line just before the start of the 1:50 PM races to take a moment to reflect on Jerry’s passing.

Tent Setup at Lake Sammamish GP

By | 2015, Cyclocross

This week tent set up is pretty straight forward. Tents will be placed in the grass parking strip at Sunset Beach Parking Lot along the east side of the finish stretch. Please review Course Map.

  1. Please start placing tents about 30 feet from the south end of the paved strip. The porta-potties should be placed at the southend of this area. Start of comfortable distance from there.
  2. Please hold the tent 5′ off the the pavement.
  3. Please butt tents up to each other whenever possible. We have over 50 tents to get into these area.
  4. You will be able to park vehicles directly behind the team tents.
  5. Please load in by 8:30 am.
  6. Please do not set up tents within 30 feet of the finish line on either side.
  7. If you set up outside this area Zac Daab will take your tent down “east coast style”. See Gloucester GP website for description of “east coast style”.
