Maybe your Grandpops rode a Raleigh back in the day, or your parents still have matching 3-speeds in their garage.    Whatever the case may be, the bicycle brand Raleigh is arguably the most recognized bicycle brand in the world.

When you do a bit of research, and visit the Raleigh Bicycle USA website , one of the first images you’ll see is of local Seattle legend Brian “I prefer Sally” Fornes.    For those of you who raced the MFG series this year, you probably ran into Sally here, or maybe here, or maybe even here.      Regardless of where you saw Sally this year, one thing is for certain:   Sally, the Marketing Honch at Raleigh USA has been the single-handedly the biggest and most vocal supporter of MFG.

As the Presenting Sponsor of MFG, Raleigh–in conjunction with Robert T and Recycled Cycles help–provided a fleet of the new RX 1.0 cross rigs for the entire series available for demo, free of charge.   When you take a close look at the RX specs, here is what stands out to us:

• Full SRAM Rival Group:   This group is light, works very well, and has a really good weight/cost ratio
• Uses a lightweight Easton carbon CX fork
• Features a BB30 bottom bracket for weight reduction, BB stiffness, and lower Q-factor
• Integrates fender eyelets on the frame, and the fork spec’d (EC 70X) also has fender eyelets; this bike is a full-on race bike, but has the versatility of a commuter.
• Offered in a very clean, simply, and race-specific paint scheme

In addition to the RX 1.0, Raleigh has done a series of limited edition CX single speed frames, giving a nod to different CX events.    Some of our favorites include the Raleigh “R” bike, the SSCXWC bike in brown, and the SSCXWC in white.

But beyond bikes, and models, and fancy, paint, one of the things we love most about Raleigh is that they get out, in the field, and support local cycling.  A HUGE thanks to Sally for the Raleigh Love this year, and when you see him on the streets, or riding Raleigh carbon team road rigs, make sure to say “whats up!” and thanks.

Wow…..what a day yesterday. We were so pleased with the series finale yesterday at Woodland Park. Thank you to friends, family, and racers who made the 1st Annual Woodland Park GP history. As always we have a double pit, a little less roomy than some we’ve had, but still plenty of room for all. We also have a long paved, uphill start stretch to string things out before getting on grass/dirt which is not part of the circuit. The finish, which was looking to be at the top of the hill, may be moved…you’ll all have to wait until Sunday to see where.

Deschutes Brewery has graciously kicked down many cases of BEER for the Woodland Park GP.   We have 40 6-packs to give away, and here’s how we’ll do it:

When pre-reg closes on Friday at 5 pm, we will randomly select 40 people from the ENTIRE pre-reg list who are 21+ in age, and your beer will be waiting at pre-registration.  (Those who have already pre-registered prior to this email are of course eligible, too)   You don’t even have to finish the race!   No debates about placings, no waiting for final results….your beer will have your name on it Sunday morning.   Alcohol, of course, is *strictly* prohibited at any city park, but you can take beer home and have your way with your Deschutes!

Be honest: When was the last time you rode in a limo? Do you remember said trip? If you’re Brayden Buchanan, MFG series leader in the Junior 10-12 category, the answer is “last summer”.

Recently, we’ve made arrangements with our friends at Fremont Auto Detail to provide shuttle service from Woodland Park, to Brouwer’s Cafe, and back to Woodland Park during race day!     The shuttle is on MFG, and tips are welcome to the driver.   Shuttle begins at noon, and runs through the afternoon.   So, finish your race, head down to Brouwer’s, and have a drink!!!

Brouwer’s Power Hour begins at 3 pm, and the MFG Woodland Park After Party begins at 5:30 pm. A light dinner buffet will be served until food runs out.  (You are on your own for drinks!)  All 21+ are welcome, and the dinner is on MFG and Brouwer’s.   Hope to see you at the party, and ride that shuttle!
