Course Comments – Woodland Park

At last, the long awaited race at Woodland Park. It is of course a hilly venue and therefore a hilly course. There are, as is usual, some changes from the course map, but the flow is essentially the same. We’ve got some grinding climbs, fast sweeping descents, a short runup, and lots of full blast riding opportunities. Really, its a lot of the elements those of you who gather to practice at Woodland are familiar with, strung together in a way to make a fun, fast race.

As always we have a double pit, a little less roomy than some we’ve had, but still plenty of room for all. We also have a long paved, uphill start stretch to string things out before getting on grass/dirt which is not part of the circuit. The finish, which was looking to be at the top of the hill, may be moved…you’ll all have to wait until Sunday to see where.

It should be fun. See y’all there.

Let it be known… that I am going to win. I call on each and every one of you to try to beat me, for I will win the race within the race… the race to Brouwer’s after the race! Bring it!

Sweet course! Thanks for bringing a race to Woodland Park — I’ve always wondered what it would be like to race on my regular training grounds, and now I get to find out!

Everybody please, please PLEASE be super cool and friendly to other park users this weekend. Terry and Zac have done a great thing to get us this venue and we owe it to them and the CX community to show that we are worthy guests. So please stay off the tennis courts and ball fields, pick up your trash, and SMILE at all the runners and dog walkers! Save your race face and ‘tude for the start line.
